Fabric Definition:
Windproof fabric is engineered to block wind penetration while maintaining breathability and comfort, widely used in outerwear, activewear, and protective clothing for cold and windy conditions.
Composition:
Polyester, Nylon, Polyester/Elastane, Nylon/Elastane, ePTFE, PU, TPU, Cotton/Polyester blends
Texture:
Smooth, crisp, slightly stiff to soft, matte or slight sheen, windproof barrier feel, can be crinkly or quiet
Stretch Level:
Low to Moderate (woven limited stretch; elastane adds stretch; knits with membrane have some stretch)
Fabric Construction:
Woven (Ripstop, Twill, Oxford), Knitted (with windproof membrane), Laminates, Coatings
GSM Range:
150-400 GSM (light to heavy; 200-350 GSM for jackets)
Breathability:
Moderate to High (most windproof fabrics are breathable; some membranes restrict)
