Econyl

Fabric Definition:
ECONYL is a 100% regenerated nylon fiber made from discarded fishing nets, carpet flooring, and industrial plastic waste, offering the exact same performance as virgin nylon with a radically lower environmental footprint.
Composition:
100% Regenerated Polyamide 6 (Nylon) – chemically recycled from pre- and post-consumer waste (fishing nets, carpets, industrial scraps)
Texture:
Smooth, silky, soft, with a subtle, performance-oriented sheen; durable, lightweight, and quick-drying, similar to virgin nylon
Stretch Level:
High – Excellent stretch and recovery, especially when blended with elastane; highly resilient
Fabric Construction:
Woven (e.g., ECONYL Fabric, Ripstop, Satin) or Knitted (e.g., Jersey, Rib, Interlock, Mesh)
GSM Range:
60-400 GSM (Light for hosiery, medium for swimwear, heavy for outerwear and luggage)
Breathability:
Good to High – Breathable, but less so than cotton; suitable for activewear and swimwear
Moisture Management:
Low (Moisture-wicking treatments enhance performance; but nylon naturally has low moisture absorption)
Durability:
Outstanding – Excellent tensile strength, highly abrasion-resistant, extremely durable, resistant to pilling and snagging
Thermal Properties:
Good – Provides moderate insulation; feels cool in water; ideal for swimwear and activewear
Key Usage Areas:
Activewear, Swimwear, Leggings, Sports Bras, Hosiery, Lingerie, Outerwear, Bags, Luggage, Accessories, Carpets, Automotive Textiles
Automotive floor mats, acoustic insulation, fishing nets (from recycled nylon), heavy-duty industrial textiles, aerospace interiors
