Fabric Definition:
Modal-cotton blend is an exceptionally soft, breathable, and durable fabric that combines the luxurious, silky softness and drape of modal with the natural comfort and absorbency of cotton.
Composition:
50-70% Modal (Regenerated Cellulose – Beechwood) + 30-50% Cotton (Cellulose) – typical ratios: 70/30 for luxury softness, 50/50 for balance
Texture:
Unbelievably soft, silky, smooth, with a flowing, luxurious drape and a cool, comfortable hand; superior to pure cotton in softness and sheen
Stretch Level:
Low to Moderate (Knitted structures offer natural stretch; spandex blends add mechanical stretch)
Fabric Construction:
Woven (e.g., Modal-Cotton Shirting, Twill) or Knitted (e.g., Jersey, Rib, Interlock, French Terry)
GSM Range:
100-350 GSM (Light for t-shirts, medium for loungewear, heavy for hoodies and sweats)
Breathability:
Excellent – Highly breathable and moisture-absorbent, better than pure cotton
Moisture Management:
Excellent – Modal is more absorbent than cotton and dries faster; excellent moisture management
Durability:
High – Good tensile strength, excellent abrasion resistance; modal is stronger than cotton when wet, improving durability
Thermal Properties:
Good – Provides moderate warmth; ideal for year-round comfort, particularly in loungewear and underwear
